Why Do We Have A Fear of Failure?

I hear this word stuck a lot. People feel stuck. They are not going forward, yet they are not moving backward. They are just…stuck. Before I dive into why we get stuck, let’s take a look at how we get stuck. You start something new with a sense of energy and motivation. It dies out over time – or perhaps even quickly. You are ready for the next thing.

You search and look at every opportunity, every possibility, every path that gives you a way out. Yet, you move nowhere. You continue to stay in your current cycle, now more drained than ever. You might move homes. You might even change jobs. You may even change relationships. But you are still living in the same pattern. You are still falling back into old habits. Your thinking hasn’t changed. While the external circumstance may have appeared to change, your internal compass is still lost. You find something new you are excited about, a new opportunity to pursue. And that doubtful inner voice creeps in.

What if I fail?

What if no one likes me?

What if I get made fun of?

So you stay right where you are. Your inner voice doesn’t allow you to change, to move on. Here’s where you can choose to make a shift. “What if” can be the 2 most destructive words, but you can choose to make them powerful.

What if….

What if you succeed and make more money than you ever thought possible?

What if you find your soulmate tomorrow?

What if you become the greatest at what you do because you were willing to give it a try?

Did you notice any changes in your body when reading those last three statements. Perhaps your posture shifted, perhaps a smile came across your face, perhaps you noticed an energetic shift. Energy is matter. It takes up space. It fills our body with vibrations, and tells our mind what to think. If your energy is fear and doubt, your body will be filled with vibrations of fear. This causes us to be paralyzed, where we do absolutely nothing. We stay where we are, we stay in the same cycles, the same patterns.

Instead of allowing this to defeat you, let the fear guide you to possibility. Instead of “What if I fail?” allow yourself to open up to the possibility of “What if I succeed?”

What inner shifts can you make in order to shift your external environment?

Your problems, fears, and doubts will follow you. Until you change the inner dialogue.

Isn’t it about time?
